New Kratos GID problemtype
« on: March 02, 2016, 11:18:51 AM »
Hi together,

I am testing the new problemtype for GID. I try to run a simple example with the structural application. Unfortunately I receive the following error:

Element ShellThickElement not available for surface entities on group Shell
Problem Writing Project Parameters block:
NodeTest: Expected "WCARDNAME" for ''
End problems
Problem Writing Custom block:
error copying "/home/mini/software/GiDx64/12.1.10d/problemtypes/kratos.gid/apps/Structural/python/KratosStructural.py": no such file or directory
End problems

Has anybody a idea what this is about?

Thank you in advance.

Regards

 Andreas

Hi Andreas,

yes i was finding the same problem.

a temporary fix is to simply add

from KratosMultiphysics.StructuralMechanicsApplication close to the importing of the SolidMechanicsApplication
in the script.

afraid you will also need to add to the main script (for now, while we fix this correctly)

#where variables are added
model_part.AddNodalSolutionStepVariable(ROTATION)
model_part.AddNodalSolutionStepVariable(MOMENTUM)

and
    for node in model_part.Nodes:
        node.AddDof(ROTATION_X, MOMENTUM_X); #ATTENTION: added by Riccardo
        node.AddDof(ROTATION_Y, MOMENTUM_Y); #ATTENTION: added by Riccardo
        node.AddDof(ROTATION_Z, MOMENTUM_Z); #ATTENTION: added by Riccardo
where dofs is added

this problem rises since JM removed such variables from the "mechanical solver" thus breaking the solver itself for
applications that do require this variables.
We'll work on fixing this asap.

The SolidMechanicsApplication does not have (right now) elements with rotational degrees of freedom.
Therefore it must not add any of them.
The problem rises since the Structural application is incomplete for any run....
